Blinking Lights?

I talked last week about finding an Snes in my room while cleaning. The game I ordered from Ebay (NBA Jam TE) came in earlier this week. I was sooooo excited to pop it in and play it! I waited until this evening to put it in. I was going to jam all weekend long. We had a tournament planned with my friends and we were going to rock it all Saturday night!

However, the system does not work. My Snes will not play the game. Luckily, I found a website that cleans and fixes old systems. I will be purchasing the cleaning kit from my friends at nintendo repair shop. Check them out at Nintendo Repair Parts, Service and Guides . These guys have great cleaning kits for your old systems. You might think that rubbing alcohol will do the trick, but you will never get into your old games and systems without the right screw bits.

These kits come with the proper screw bits and great cleaning solutions to get your systems up and running again. It sucks that I have to wait for mine, but I can wait another week to play my game.

Nerdy Pet Owners

I never really had any pets until I got married. We always had cats, but I never considered them pets. I always felt like I was their pet. I was always dancing and trying to get them to love me. They always sat their with the disapproving looks and their judgement. They reminded me of my dad, in that way. However, my beautiful wife came two dogs. We now have three, but that’s because my wife gave me the ultimatum of a puppy or a baby. I thought I was getting off easy with choosing the puppy, but it turns out the only hassle you don’t have to deal with is paying for college. So, to help me enjoy my new puppy and our pets, I scoured the interweb to find some awesome nerdy pet gifts.

The Bolt Interactive Pet Laser Toy and the Dart Automatic Pet Laser Toy are great giftsBolt Interactive Pet Laser Toy for those people who want their pets to enjoy laser pointers when they are not around. Both of these devices have an automatic mode, so you could be playing with your kitty or puppy without even being in the room. Do you think that they will really miss you with a freakin’ laser beam bouncing around the room? I think not!

Dart Automatic Pet Laser ToyThey are also great toys for those of us with fat pets. I have a Miniature Dachshund that balloons up if she even looks at a doggy treat. The Dart Automatic Pet Laser Toy goes ’round and ’round at an adjustable speed. You can set it from “Droopy Dog” all the way to “Cat-Nip Caper”. Check out both of these fun and hands free devices.

Finally, one of the coolest gadgets that I saw was thePet's Eye View Digital Camera Pet’s Eye View Digital Camera. This device attaches to your pet’s collar and takes pictures every 1 to 15 minutes. It will finally answer the question, “What do your pets do when you are away?” This could solve almost all of the mysteries in the house, like where the missing slippers went and who hid them. The camera easily uploads the pictures with a USB cord, making it easy to find the culprits of the shoe crimes. So if you think that you can handle the truth, then check out this item.

So check out these gifts for the nerdy pet lover in your life. These items will help whip their pets into shape: literally and figuratively.

Zombie Literature

I found a great iTunesU series, last week. It is a University of Alabama Literature Course on Zombies in film and literature. The instructor, Sean Horde, discusses in seven interviews the merits of zombies in art and culture and why they have become such a force in the modern zeitgeist. One of my favorite conversations with him was about zombies in books. Sean talked about how zombies are the greatest movie creatures because they don’t think; they just do. He said that only recently have zombies broken into the literary world. Well, I have scoured the internet, and I have found some great zombie literary works.

The Walking Dead Compendium
is a great start to any zombie bookshelf. For all of us whoThe Walking Dead Compendium live in Atlanta, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has been a great show to watch. We have seen zombies eat some of our friends and family who were lucky enough to be extras on the show. We have seen HWY 85 just as traffic jammed as in the first season. Well, The Walking Dead Compendium is where it all began. This is the first 48 issues of “The Walking Dead” for your reading pleasure. 1088 pages of zombie attacks are here for your reading pleasures.

That is Not Your Mommy Anymore - A Zombie TaleSome of us wish that we were more prepared for the impending zombie apocalypse. If only our parents would have started training us earlier, we would have our priorities straight. Well, my generation can begin the zombie propaganda early with That is Not Your Mommy Anymore – A Zombie Tale. This is a tale that educates your children on when to love mommy and when to blow her brains out Zombieland style. It has great lines, such as:

“”When she’s shambling ‘cross the bedroom floor,
that’s not your Mommy anymore.
When her voice sounds just like Daddy’s snore,
that’s not your Mommy anymore.

Your kids will love the tale, and if you do the zombie grunts and groans, they will love you, too (unless you’ve been bitten).

Finally, if you have enjoyed this post so far, you are probably the proud owner of “The Zombie Survival Guide“.Z-SAT Zombie Survival Aptitude Test It’s ok, I read it when it came out. But just like medical licenses and math classes, we all need to be tested every now and then, or else we will forget what we learned. That is why they created Z-SAT Zombie Survival Aptitude Test. Test your knowledge of zombie survival tactics and see how long you could survive. This is the perfect book to get your boyfriend or girlfriend. This will see if they are really the perfect mate for you. Anybody can put the toilet seat back down and reload the toilet paper roll, but do they know what the softest part of the skull is? Find out before you make the big leap with the Z-SAT Zombie Survival Aptitude Test.

So help your nerd start his zombie bookcase with these excellent literary works. Who knows? Maybe one of these gifts could save both of your lives, someday.

Real Retro Gaming

My wife and I were cleaning our bedroom this past weekend. Since I graduated from college, I have free time to do silly things like clean. We ended up with thirteen bags of trash to take to the curb, sixteen loads of laundry, and a desk that we filed bills and bank statement going back three years. The greatest discovery happened while we were cleaning the last drawer out from my desk.

I discovered my Super Nintendo! It had two controllers, the power cord, and the RF switch! I was sooo excited! I then found a stack of sixteen Nintendo 64 games. I was in nerd heaven!

These gaming systems remind me of a better time in life. It was the time were I had the least amount of worries. I had all summer long to play Mario Bros. and Metroid. There was never a day that went by in my youth where I did not play Nintendo. I was glad to rediscover a little bit of that magic when I found these games and the systems for them.

The problem was the SNES was dirty, the games wouldn’t start, and the N64 controllers had bad analog sticks. Luckily, I found a great website that can help you with all of your real retro gaming needs. It is Nintendo Repair Shop. They have the tools to help you with all of your Nintendo Repair Parts, Service and Guides.

They even have the old gaming systems and video games. They have a great collection of vintage games and accessories for your systems. My wife asked me what I wanted for Valentine’s day, and I told her that I wanted the N64 cleaning kit. I want to be able to play my games the way I use to play them. I don’t just want to play a emulator: I want the real thing. So check out Nintendo Repair Shop for Used Original Nintendo Systems and Original Nintendo Games, Cleaned and Tested.

Smartphone Controlled Robot

I grew up in a house with four other brothers. Every Christmas day, our home’s airspace was taken over by our new helicopters and airplanes attached to wire. Our street was the site of many great RC car races and demolition derbies. I would like to tell you that at 26, my love of RC toys has diminished. I know my wife would like that, too. Apparently, the older I get, the more I want to fly little helicopters and airplanes. I found the coolest little RC toy for the nerd in your life.

The Smartphone Controlled Desk Pet Tankbots is the RC gadget for the 21st Century. This robot is controlled by an app that you install on your Android or iPhone. It can navigate your messy desk either by remote control or in automatic mode. This is the perfect gift for your smartphone obsessed nerd. Retro Gaming for the 21st Century

When it comes to living in the past, nobody does it bigger and better than a nerd. We hold onto our childhoods for far too many years and we relish in the things that made our childhoods amazing. Nostalgia is the key to your nerd’s heart, and I have found some great gifts to warm your nerd’s soul.

The first thing that needs to be said in this post is that we love retro gaming. Our motto isRetro NES USB Controller “Give us 8-bits or give us death”. We want the real system and cartridges, but we end up settling for emulators. Here is your chance to help your nerd feel like he has the real thing with the Retro NES USB Controller. This controller feels like your old NES controller, but it plugs into any computer or system with a usb port. No drivers required. No installation. Nothing but the great feeling of a perfectly rectangled controller in your hand. Relive the best moments of your gaming childhood with the Retro NES USB Controller.

Some of us nerds love our Apple products. Some of us love our Windows and Google smartJOYSTICK-IT iPad Arcade Stick phones. All of us love our games. That’s why the JOYSTICK-IT iPad Arcade Stick was created. Yes, Android fans, it does say iPad, but it works on any screen. This little joystick sticks to the screen of any smart phone or tablet and allows your to play your games with the comfort of a joystick. Stick it in the middle of the d-pad when the game comes up and play to your heart’s content. When you are done, just pull it off of the screen. It is safe for your screen and fun for your thumbs.

Finally, the moment you have all been waiting for. Yes, we nerds love our emulators. Wea320 Pocket Retro Game Emulator have been trying to hack our psp’s and our smart phones for years trying to get to play our retro games. Well, no more bricking psp’s and no more jail breaking your iPhones. I found a great portable gaming device that was specifically created for the emulator and rom heads out there. Decorating Your Nerd Cave

I have always heard people say that the “Eyes are the window to the soul”. I have never learned that much about someone from there eyes, but I have learned a lot about someone from their room. How someone keeps their room tells the world more about them than their eyes do. You can find out whether a person is a slob or a neat freak. You can figure out what bands they like or what their favorite movie is. Now, thanks to the incredible invention of space age vinyl with non-wall-damaging adhesive, you can also tell if they are a nerd or not. Here are some great wall decorations for your nerd.

Nintendo Wall Graphics are the perfect start to your new “Nerd Cave”. These wall decals come in three different packs: Original Mario, Donkey Kong, and the New Super Mario Bros. With the mix and match capability of each pack, you can decide how faithful you want to be to the original games. Do you want to set up your room as the first stage of Super Mario Bros. and see if you can beat your video game time, or do you want to create your own path to rescuing Princess Peach? The only way that these packs could be more of a perfect nerd item is if they had a wall decal of the Donkey Kong “Kill Screen” shot.

Maybe your nerd is not the biggest Mario fan. No problem. I a great wall decal for your special someone, as well. It is the Capcom Wall Decals featuring Mega Man! This wall decal pack includes 25 individual stickers that can be stuck and re-stuck over and over again to the wall. This pack has Mega Man fighting his original enemies, and you can have them battle it out right in the comfort of your own room. These decals can turn a normal, boring teenager’s room into a battle of epic proportions!

Finally, this wall peel is for the creative nerd in your life. The other wall decals are amazing inventions and will make normal rooms amazing nerd caves, but they are not for everybody. Some of the nerds out their like to make their own art and create their own space. For that person, I have found the Peel and Stick White Board. This vinyl wall decal can be placed anywhere on your wall and can be cut to fit any walled area. This is great gift for the college student’s dorm room, the computer nerd’s den for coding, or for the up and coming comic book artist. Turn a boring white wall into a work of art with the Peel and Stick White Board.

With all of these amazing peel and stick products, you can tell the world a little bit more about yourself. Show your friends and family how awesome you are by showing off your new room. But before you do, could you clean up a little bit? It will be hard to see your new wall decals past the mounds of dirty clothes.

Tools for Fixing Video Game Systems

Everybody has that person in their life that loves to tinker with electronics. For as long as anyone can remember, they were taking radios and TV’s apart just to see how they worked. I have searched the web and I have found a great gift for your repair nerd.

Amazon’s Pro’s Kit 30-in-1 Video Game Screwdriver Set is the perfect
gift for the gamer/repair man in your life. This kit has every screw bit to fit every single screw on almost all of the video game systems that have been created! You see, every system has a different kind of screw head to protect the company that made it from having it easily opened up. The easier it is to open up, the easier it is to learn how to make one and to make replicas of the systems. It is a great way to protect your product, but it sucks for the person who wants to fix their gaming system.

That’s why this screw driver set was created. Now you can get in and change the 72 pin connector on your NES, replace
fuses to prevent the “Black Screen of Death” on your SNES, and even get into the new systems to prevent the Red Rings of Death on your X-Box 360. This is the kit to have that will let you get into everything Nintendo, Microsoft, Sega, and Sony related.

So the next time you are shopping for the “Fix It” person in your life, ask yourself this question: Does that person have all of the tools that they need to fix my broken Nintendo DS screen? If the answer is no, then the Pro’s Kit 30-in-1 Video Game Screwdriver Set
is the perfect gift for the repair nerd in your life.
